Moving from Telepay and BBS to ISO 20022 XML: What You Need to Know
From 1 May 2025, the Telepay and BBS formats can no longer be used
Due to changes that are being made in the Norwegian market, the Telepay and BBS formats are no longer updated and will therefore be phased out.
Danske Bank has set the deadline at 1 May 2025. Consequently, files submitted in these formats after 30 April 2025 will be rejected, and the payments included in such files will not be processed.
What should you do now?
To avoid potential disruption to your payment processing, we recommend that you switch to the ISO 20022 XML format as soon as possible and no later than 1 May 2025. The XML format supports future changes and functionality, ensuring that your payments are processed smoothly.
We are ready to receive XML files from you already now, and there is no need for new agreements, mandates or users.
If you use a Norwegian salary system
Your salary system may already be able to create files in the ISO 20022 XML format instead of the Telepay format.
This means that you need to start exporting the payments from your salary system in the XML Pain.001.001.03 format instead of the Telepay format. The XML payment file is then sent to Danske Bank as is the case today. We are ready to receive the XML format from you, no agreement and user changes are necessary.

Where to find more information about ISO 20022 XML formats?
How to test ISO 20022 XML files?
You can use our https://danskeci.com/filevalidator to validate pain.001.001.03 payment initiation files against the overall ISO 20022 XML schema standard (XSD). If a file is schema-valid, the tool can also be used for validating the payments in the file. The test XML files can be tested using our File Validation Tool at https://danskeci.com/filevalidator
We recommend that you validate your pain.001.001.03 files prior to contacting our support teams as we see that errors are primarily related to the overall XML standard.
Additional information
A general description of ISO 20022 XML formats is given in the Danske Bank Message Implementation Guide.
