LB (Leverantörsbetalningar) format discontinued: Start using ISO 20022 XML
As of 12 May 2026, supplier payments to Bankgirot in LB (Leverantörsbetalningar) format can no longer be used.
Due to changes that are being made in the Swedish market, the LB format (including Utlands-LB and salaries) has now been phased out and replaced with ISO 20022 XML format.
Danske Bank has set the deadline for 12 May 2026.
Consequently, files submitted in LB format after 12 May 2026 are being rejected,
and the payments included in such files are not being processed.
What should you do now? To avoid potential disruption to your payment processing, we recommend that you switch to the ISO 20022 XML format as soon as possible and no later than 12 May 2026. The XML format supports future changes and functionality, ensuring that your payments are processed smoothly.
The main benefits of switching from LB to XML format are:
Improved
overview in District
No
paper-based reporting
Fewer rejected payments
We are ready to receive XML files from you already now, and there is no need for new agreements.
If you use a payment system to create supplier
payment files It is very likely that your payment system can
already create files in the ISO 20022 XML. This means that you can start
exporting the payments from your system in the XML pain.001.001.03 format instead of the LB format. The XML payment file is then
sent to Danske Bank as is the case today.
We suggest contacting your system provider to
check if they can create Danske Bank's version of the ISO 20022 XML format.

ISO 20022 XML
No
No
No, there are no extra fees when moving to ISO 20022 XML.
In the
current payment infrastructure, ISO 20022 XML payment initiation files
support:
Short-form advice (up to 12 characters).
Long-form advice (up to 525 characters).
In the new payment infrastructure, ISO 20022 XML payment initiation files
will support:
Structured messages (up to 280 characters).
Unstructured messages (up to 140 characters).
Extended Remittance Information (ERI), which includes: - One unstructured message (up to 140 characters) and - 2-999 occurrences of structured advice (up to 280 characters).
Functionality of Monitoring and deduction of credit notes.
Utlands-LB: The Bank monitors and deducts the credit note against invoices with the same execution date. Sends payment information including paid invoices and credit notes.
ISO 20022 XML: Is not supported in this format. Customer needs to deduct the credit note and enter the netted amount, enter invoice reference and deducted credit note reference.
If you want to include invoices and credit
notes in your domestic Swedish payments in ISO 20022 XML format, you need to
follow these rules:
Only Swedish Bankgiro payments
and Account transfers support invoices and credit notes.
Invoices and credit notes must
be sent in the same payment file.
Invoices and credit notes must
have the same execution
date.
OCR number cannot be used.
Amount must be higher than 0
(zero).
Credit notes will no longer be
monitored.
Due to limitation in the current clearing
channel in Sweden, we recommend using only 10 <Strd> (Structured) tags
with invoices and credit notes until the Swedish clearing channels are updated.
In the XML format, the content of the various tags determines the payment type, so please check that your XML file creates the same payment types as the ones you create today.
Kindly use our File Validation Tool at https://danskeci.com/filevalidator to test your files. Using the File Validation Tool, you can validate pain.001.001.03 payment initiation files against the overall ISO 20022 XML schema standard (XSD). If a file is schema-valid, the tool can also be used for validating the payments in the file.
We recommend that you validate your pain.001.001.03 files prior to contacting our support teams as we see that errors are primarily related to the overall XML standard.
The payments in an XML file can be single-booked or batch-booked. It depends on the bulk instructions in the file. Kindly use our File Validation Tool at https://danskeci.com/filevalidator to see whether the payments are bulked.
You
can see how to use the XML batch booking tag and which payment types you can
batch-book on page 7 in the PDF file -pain.001.001.03 Appendix.pdf.
Additional information and resources
By 8 September 2026, you must have camt.053 or camt.054 (ISO 20022 XML) in place in order to receive detailed information about payments sent via the new payment infrastructure initiated to a Bankgiro number. You can use camt.053 (statement file) and camt.054 (entry file), which
can be ordered in District.
Contact your system provider to confirm which file type you can use.
For more details about camt files, visit the Reconciliation section on this
page: ISO 20022 XML
From 15 November 2026, unstructured postal addresses will no longer be accepted in Swedish domestic payments. Addresses included in payments must comply with the structured or hybrid formats defined by the Nordic Payments Council (NPC).
What does that mean for your business?
If your business includes postal addresses in payments, they must meet the new structured or hybrid address format requirements. Otherwise, the address will be removed, and the payment will be processed without any address information.
What to do to prepare?
Transition to the ISO 20022 XML format for initiating payments.
Ensure that postal addresses used in payments comply with the structured or hybrid format requirements: - For structured addresses, include 'Town Name' and 'Country' (mandatory), but do not include 'Address Line'. - For hybrid addresses, include 'Town Name' and 'Country' (mandatory) and at least one 'Address Line'.
Review and update your payment processes and systems to ensure compliance with these requirements.
Refer to Appendix O in the document pain.001.001.03 Appendix for detailed examples of address formats.

schema-valid, the tool can also be used for validating the payments in the
file. The test XML files can be tested using our File Validation Tool at

We
recommend that you validate your pain.001.001.03 files prior to contacting our

standard.
