KI-Lön format discontinued: Start using ISO 20022 XML

 

As of 14 November 2025, salary payments to Bankgirot in KI-Lön format can no longer be used.

Danske Bank has set the deadline for 14 November 2025. Consequently, files submitted in Bankgirot’s KI-Lön format after 14 November 2025 are being rejected, and the payments included in such files are not being processed.
What should you do now?

If you haven't done so already, we recommend that you switch to the ISO 20022 XML format as soon as possible. The XML format supports future changes and functionality, ensuring that your payments are processed smoothly.

The main benefits of switching from KI to XML format are:

  • Improved cut-off time for the salary files
  • Improved overview in District
  • No paper-based reporting
  • Fewer rejected payments

We are ready to receive XML files from you already now, and there is no need for new agreements.

If you use a salary system to create salary files

It is very likely that your salary system can already create files in the ISO 20022 XML. This means that you can start exporting the payments from your salary system in the XML pain.001.001.03 format instead of the KI format. The XML payment file is then sent to Danske Bank as is the case today.

We suggest contacting your system provider to check if they can create Danske Bank's version of the ISO 20022 XML format.

If you send supplier payments in Bangirot’s LB (Leverantörsbetalningar) format

LB format (including Utlands-LB and salaries) will be discontinued after 12 May 2026. To read more about transition from LB files, please click here.

If you receive reconciliation files in Bg Max format (Bankgiro Inbetalningar - Bankgiro Receivables)

    By 8 September 2026, you must have camt.053 or camt.054 (ISO 20022 XML) in place in order to receive detailed information about payments sent via the new payment infrastructure initiated to a Bankgiro number.

  • Yes, 12 May 2026 is the last day to use LB format, including Utlands-LB and salaries.
  • It depends on your current setup. Salary files in XML can only be approved by District users who have confidential user rights. Users without confidential rights will not be able to approve salaries in XML files unless they update their user rights. A user assigned as an Administrator in District can check and update user rights for other users.

  • No, there are no extra fees when moving to ISO 20022 XML.

  • All file communication will no longer go via Bankgirot and will be routed via each bank instead.

    You can send the files by uploading them in District or you can establish a direct communication connection to Danske Bank. If you would like to set up a new connection, please contact your system provider and the bank to explore the options available.
  • Kindly use our File Validation Tool at https://danskeci.com/filevalidator to test your files. Using the File Validation Tool, you can validate pain.001.001.03 payment initiation files against the overall ISO 20022 XML schema standard (XSD). If a file is schema-valid, the tool can also be used for validating the payments in the file.

    We recommend that you validate your pain.001.001.03 files prior to contacting our support teams as we see that errors are primarily related to the overall XML standard.
  • Company organisation number.
  • The payment date in <ReqdExctnDt> should be the date for when the beneficiary’s account will be credited.  The salary file must be sent to the bank at the latest at 12.30 the banking day before the payment date written in <ReqdExctnDt>. Ask your ERP-vendor how to set this up correctly in your system.
  • Receiver's account number is structured the same way as in KI. Please follow this link for details: Bankernaskontonummer
  • No, it is not mandatory to include your agreement number in your payment file.

  • Swedish salary and pension payments become confidential by default.

    The SALA tag shows that the payments are salary payments:

  • The payments in an XML file can be single-booked or batch-booked. It depends on the bulk instructions in the file. Kindly use our File Validation Tool at https://danskeci.com/filevalidator to see whether the payments are bulked.
